Outsouced Management of Information Systems (OMIS)
In today's competitive business environment, business operations need to be exceedingly efficient to achieve success. It's no secret that part of the winning strategy includes the effective use of information systems; computers, networks, Internet, word processing programs, accounting programs, etc. It is frustrating and inefficient to have employees spend time chasing technology and maintaining the company’s business information systems. This kind of work can easily turn into a full time effort for one or more employees. Most companies would agree that it's more important to keep their employees focused on the core competencies of the business versus spending their time keeping computer systems running. Anyone involved in business understands the pain associated with loosing data, the inability to access the network, not having access to email, and loosing pertinent business information.
The concept of OMIS is very simple and practical. The OMIS Support Program allows companies to purchase blocks of Information Technology (IT) services to manage their information systems infrastructure, networks, help desk, applications programming support, and a wide range of other services listed below. Utilizing a 3rd party company to provide this support has several advantages:
• Allows employees to focus on the business's core competency
• Problems are resolved faster
• Insures you have the right hardware/software for your business and not overpaying for it
• Decrease the chances of loosing valuable business information
• Minimize system down time
• Increases your understanding of how technology can be use to help your business
• Decreases the potential of being hit by computer viruses
With the OMIS program you purchase the plan that meets your needs. A block of IT time is purchased and BlueSky will work with you to manage the time.
The time can be used as the company sees fit. Examples of usage include:
• Technical support calls
• Monthly network and PC maintenance
• Application development
• Application support
• Training
• Technical consulting advice
Depending on the size of the OMIS program you select, prices range from $65 to $85 per hour and coupled with our lucrative customer referral incentives, our OMIS program is very competitive and cost-effective.

Words from
BlueSky's President
The power of the Internet is no secret. Its
proven ability to provide economic universal connectivity has had a profound
impact on all businesses throughout the world. How to make your
business successful is also no secret. A key ingredient to the formula
is doing things quicker and better than your competitors. Companies
who have had the "If it's not broke, don't fix it" attitude have
paid a price for that perspective over the last decade. Companies like
Ebay and PayPal emerged from nowhere and utilized the Internet to become
extremely successful. They are perfect examples of companies who used
the power of the Internet to deliver better offerings than their
competitors.
Most would agree that companies are now at a
point where they depend heavily on email. This
didn't happen overnight and the companies who were early adaptors of email
certainly gained a competitive advantage over their competition. Over the past few years there has been a lot of buzz about
the advantages of utilizing the Internet to collaborate. I believe it is now
widely accepted in the business community that collaborative commerce
(c-commerce) is the next opportunity for competitive advantage for businesses.
According to Gartner Group, "C-commerce is a set of electronically
enabled, collaborative interactions among an enterprise, its customers, business
partners, suppliers, and employees." More
than automating transactions, c-commerce involves the real-time sharing and
advancing of information with a company, across an extended enterprise and
within private and public exchanges.
There are other companies
offering collaboration solutions, so a fair question would be; "What's
special about BlueSky's offering?" At
the top of the list is our ability to provide a tried, trued, and tested
solution at an incredibly low price as compared to our competitors. BlueSky as a company is fairly new, but our product is very mature.
The history of our Alventive product offering dates back to a 1990
startup CAD company named VDS. In
1999, VDS decided to focus their entire effort to integrating their CAD viewing
technology into a web-based collaboration solution. VDS changed their name to Alventive in 2000 and raised several million
dollars in venture capital money to fund the development effort and get the
product into the marketplace. They
were very successful in selling their solution to large well-known companies,
primarily targeting Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) companies. The Alventive product evolved through 5 release versions and
in June of 2003 Alventive ran into financial problems and had to dissolve.
BlueSky Solutions LLC was then formed from a group of existing employees. We acquired the Alventive intellectual property, assets, and
customer contracts. We have been
very careful to structure ourselves to allow us to operate with minimal
overhead. We have taken advantage
of a competitive market driving Internet access costs down. We have outsourced many of our operating processes, therefore keeping our
operating costs at a minimum. The
end result is that we have a compelling leading edge product that can be offered
to our customers at an incredible low price. That is the differentiator that puts BlueSky in a unique competitive
position.
The first step is for
companies to recognize the need and understand the value of implementing a
collaboration solution. I am
confident that competition (both yours and mine) along with consultants will
help companies make the decision to take this first step. The second step is for you to decide what collaboration solution is good
for your company. That is where we
hope to have the opportunity to show you what BlueSky's Alventive offering can
do for you. Please take a look at
our site and contact us with any questions.
